Skywalk Sonnenstein
The Skywalk at Sonnenstein near Holungen offers an unforgettable nature experience. The cantilevered viewing platform extends beyond the cliff edge and rewards brave visitors with a breathtaking panorama over the Eichsfeld.
About 14 kilometres from our guesthouse, the Skywalk at Sonnenstein awaits – one of the most spectacular viewing platforms in the Eichsfeld. The steel structure extends several metres beyond the cliff edge, offering a unique view into the depths and across the wide landscape.
The path to the Skywalk leads through the Ohmgebirge range on the northern edge of the Eichsfeld and is already an experience in itself. Along the hiking trail you pass rock formations and dense mixed forest before reaching the platform.
Besides the Skywalk, a visit to the nearby limestone quarry is also worthwhile – a small lake has formed there. The combination of geology, nature and modern architecture makes Sonnenstein a distinctive destination.
Allow about 2-3 hours for the visit if you would like to take the circular hiking trail. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
